A set of components and DLLs that allow you to manipulate zip files from within your Delphi or C++ Builder programs. It’s all free. Don’t know ifyou can use the DLLs with any other languages.

DC Archiver
DC is a BWT based archiver by Edgar Binder. Is it free? Not sure, but no source.
DAX source code
This code is reputedly good for compressing B/W images. The web site refers to it as Difference Adaptive compression. It’s patented.
PPMD Var ‘F’ (Dmitry Shkarin)
A file to file compressor that uses the PPMD algorithm is boasts of being very fast.
ScalVico H.263 Support
ScalVico is a project that refers to a Scalable Video Codec. Apparently the package now supports H.263.

Image Power has released a beta version of their JPEG2000 codec. It’s free to use for evaluation and non-commercial applications.

Woontack Woo - Publications
Woontack Woo has published quite a few papers dealing with coding and compression of stereo images. This is one of the few places you can find information on this somewhat esoteric subject.
BMPSqueezer
An interesting program that takes an image and squeezes it down into a Java applet. Shareware, so you can give it a spin for free.
ITU Series G Specifications
All the voice coding specs you can shake a stick at. Get your checkbook out, though, these aren’t free.
ArchivePro 2000
ArchivePro isn’t a zip program, it’s a database for all the files you’ve stored. In the process it often compresses files for you, which is how it ended up in my database.

Aladdin Dropstuff
Another product from Aladdin, makers of the world-famouse Stuffit program for the Mac. DropStuff comes in versions for the Mac and Windows, and will store archives in either Zip or Sit formats.
TIFF Software
A library that supports reading and writing of TIFF files.
Papers by Bernhard Balkenhol
Bernhard seems to have written quite a few papers on data compression. A few of them are in German, a few in English. All in ps.gz format. Bernhard has links to published papers and preprints on this page, be sure to check them all.
ZipWave
A shareware visual archiving program that advertises that it supports 15 popular archive formats. Note the link to the French version of the program and web page.
CAB Station
