OpenUp
OpenUp allows you to double-click on compressed and archived files and have them open in the Workspace without having to resort to the command-line tools gnutar and gunzip. It also supports opening many other common, and uncommon formats. Appears to be free, with source available.
SmartZip
SmartZip is a MacOS application designed to be the simplest and most efficient way to manage ZIP files. You can automatically compress files (or entire folders) by dragging them onto SmartZip and in the same way you can easily expand ZIP files.
Compact Pro
Compact Pro is a shareware file compression and archival utility for the Mac. It compresses and stores files in “archives” which may span multiple diskettes. Compact Pro supports data encryption (US and Canadian users only) and self-extracting archives.
